“Love Is…” Valentine’s Video-Making Contest

February is the month of hearts! We at Dream Studio’s Director’s Club want to highlight this special occasion, and we want you to be a part of it!

“What Is Love?” Unleash your creativity and use pictures to tell us what love means to you. It does not need to be romantic love: you can also show your appreciation for your parents, your brothers and sisters, your pets, and just about anything and everything that has a special place in your heart.

1. Pictures should be personal and should clearly show what love means to you. Copyrighted images are not allowed.

2. At least two Dream Studio effects should be incorporated in the video.

3. Video entries should have a minimum of five slides. The video does not have to be Sanrio-themed.

4. The use of background music is highly encouraged.

5. E-mail the URL to the Director’s Club (directors_club@hellokitty.com) with the subject “DS Contest Entry: Love Is“. Only the videos that have been sent to this addressed will be recognized as official entries.

6. Multiple entries are allowed.

7. No offensive materials, violent and explicit/sexual content should be used.

8. The competition timeline is between Feb 14 and Feb 29.

9. SanrioTown reserves any rights to use the videos, in whole or in part.

1. The SanrioTown moderators will choose the top entries. Members could then vote for the videos they liked the best.

2. Winners will be announced on SanrioTown.com on the Director’s Club official blog by the first week of March 2008.

3. Winners will be notified by e-mail and the prize sent by courier.

Grand Prize

1. The grand prize winner will win this 1GB LIMITED EDITION Hello Kitty USB Memory Stick, a unique little gadget that’s just about the size of a paperclip! This is not available in stores, so this is truly a special prize for our winner exclusively from SanrioTown!

2. The winner will also receive a Premium E-mail Account here in SanrioTown, where they will get twice the mail storage space, POP3 access and E-mail forwarding.

3. The winning video will appear as the top Editor’s Pick for a week upon winning.

4. A custom badge will be placed at the lower right corner of their winning video, indicating that it has won the grand prize for our contest.

This week is going to be a little different, because we'll be featuring two videos instead of one. Why, you ask? Because komakatze, the creator of these, actually made it into two parts, so we'll be featuring both to give you a maximum virtual tour.

Impressions Gran Canaria and Impressions Gran Canaria, 2 feature the landscape, structures, and the way of life of the people of Gran Canaria, a Spanish island near Africa.

The pictures are rustic and go far beyond what you see on typical postcards, showing how the people of Gran Canaria actually see the island. The rawness of the shots are actually what makes the place quite enticing to visit, because there is something in the rugged beauty of the place that makes them appealing. It's really a very interesting and gorgeous place, and the pictures and the videos capture these perfectly.

"Everything Hello Kitty" not only has pictures of stuff with Hello Kitty's cute face on these, but viewers can actually see how much effort has been put into making this video. From the images to the descriptions of the items, you can see a load of effects used to form slides that are very interesting to watch - cohesion is the key here, because these don't end up distracting people from checking out what the things are, but actually highlights the cool factor of these.

William Shakespeare once said, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." The Bard certainly had the right idea when it came to the scent of flowers, not to mention that blooms are some of the prettiest things in the world. Mickey1928 certainly thought so too, and that is why she made a video featuring images of really beautiful ones of different kinds and colors.

"Flower pics" showcase some of the prettiest pictures of flowers that one can see. The effects serve to highlight their beauty, instead of distracting the viewer from the pictures to be seen. To cap it off, the beat of the music adds to the appeal of the video, because it's fun but at the same time, descriptive of the images.

We're right smack in between Christmas and New Year, so what better way to celebrate this season by featuring a video highlighting the holidays- but with a Sanrio twist?

"Merry Christmas Hello Kitty", made by filipinogirl, is a collection of holiday pictures featuring Hello Kitty, and occasionally joined by her twin sister Mimmy, Dear Daniel, and her other friends. There is even a mini-story in the video, what with the captions added by the maker of the video. Also, if you pay attention to the slides, you'll be able to catch a few surprises that would make you smile.:D

It's only five days until Christmas! Are you getting excited? We are!

During Christmas, we may ask for certain things that we would want to receive as our gifts. These usually come in the form of items: toys, gadgets, books, etc. Hajnee, however, has a different request and she expressed it in a very unique fashion: though a Dream Studio video!

"All I Want for Christmas" was made by the video creator as though she was writing to Santa Claus. While she says she doesn't want that much, at least nothing that could be gift-wrapped, she has one request, and she hopes that this will be granted come Christmas day.

SanrioTown Dream Studio Video of the Week!

What do you get when you cross two different, brightly-colored socks, a cow, and a camera? Watch this week's featured Dream Studio Video of the Week and find out!

Entitled "Argyle and Stitches (Ep. 01)", this week's featured video is an almost sure-fire away of making its viewers laugh, not only because of its actual, unique content, but also because of the promise it holds. What's to watch out for? The video features sock puppets named Argyle and Stitches who are bent on world domination. If that's not funny enough, throw in a magical flying cow in the mix and you're sure to end up with mayhem! The video seems to be a silent movie and a comic combined, with the characters' (and the narrator's!) dialogue set in text instead of audio. Fun "silent movie" music accompanies the visuals, making it a very exciting and happy video to watch.

Since the title implies that there are more episodes to come, we can watch out for even more stories of the two socks' adventures. Will they end up ruling the galaxy as they planned?

Baby Seal Pics, made by mickey1928, shows exactly that: pups in different and various poses in their natural snowy surroundings all looking really adorable. The creator of the video, however, asks people to help preserve these, maybe because they're being hunted for commercial purposes.

Anywhere you go, you'll find a Hello Kitty lover. Maybe that's why she is always depicted as going on tours around the world, so that she'll be able to relate and "visit" her fans from all over.



This week's featured video showcases some of the "country incarnations" Kitty has had over the years, but with a fun twist. Made by yoshisland, the video is called "Around the World". It's really quite interesting to watch, because the creator didn't just put in pictures of Hello Kitty wearing different costumes: she narrates a short story about our favorite white cat visiting these different countries, with cool trivia and even a greeting in the language of that place! It's really a fun video, not only because of the cute images, but also because you get to learn some new stuff too.

Throughout the years, Sanrio's released adorable characters that people have come to know, love, and maybe, be inspired with. Such might be the case of this week's featured video, because it shows adorable fuzzies created by the video maker herself.

SchoolTime Introduction, this week's Dream Studio Video of the Week, is made by veedeck, an 11-year old aspiring artist. She features her self-created characters in her video, a bunch of adorable animals complete with their colors and names. She presents each of her fuzzies in a very creative way, maximizing the effects of Dream Studio by making these appear as though they really were meeting on the slides. Accompanying the pictures is fun music that's just perfect for the content and theme of the video.

Gone are the days that fathers are not involved with their children's lives. Dads are now hands-on with how they handle their sons and daughters, taking the time to spend time with them, teaching them, playing with them, and just hanging out with them. This week's featured video is proof of this, because a father was the one who actually made it, in honor of his family.

Dream Studio Video of the Week!

SanrioTown's Dream Studio is used by people a lot of times to show off their work. After all, we do love the stuff that we make, right?:D Budding directors put together images, music, and video clips to make a creation according to their liking.

Occasionally though, there are people who will go the extra creative distance and make everything from scratch, and one of them is the maker of this week's featured video.



Entitled "My Drawings <33", chochan93 posted pictures that she herself has made. Her creations are many and varied, ranging from Hello Kitty to anime creatures and characters. Some have been colored, while others are in black and white. Whatever case each drawing might be, though, all of the pictures are cute and show that the artist devoted her time and talent in these. If that's not enough, she also included fun music and cool effects to make her video even more creative and amazing.
