Introduction to Hello Kitty Online

At last the amazing world of Hello Kitty and Friends is coming to interactive life as a massively multiplayer online game! SanrioDigital and Typhoon Games have combined Sanrio's much-loved characters with new eye-catching graphics and the engaging gameplay of MMORPGs. Gamers and fans finally have the opportunity to become a part of the Sanrio universe! Here is a quick preview of the game.

Set Up

First you must create a SanrioTown account. Once you have an account, download the game client and install it on your PC.

Log in to Hello Kitty Online using your SanrioTown username and password. Choose which server to play on, and the character creation process will begin. You can customize your character's hair, hair accessories, facial features, clothes, shoes, and handheld items to set up your own original Sanrio toon. The customization options are diverse in order to ensure a well-varied game community.

Once you've finished customizing your character, you're all set to take your first steps in Hello Kitty's world.

Getting Started

You begin the game in the lavishly verdant Flower Kingdom. Hello Kitty Online's world is a 3D-rendered environment based on beautiful illustrations. The game interface is functional and stylish, and learning it requires only a few minutes.

Many Activities

Hello Kitty Online is not just about fighting monsters - there are many activities to choose from. Aside from the monster-filled adventure areas, players can dig for ore in a mine, or range the forests to pick fruit from trees. Farming allows you to plant, grow and harvest your own crops; be sure to take good care of your crops so you will have a good harvest, and if you have a healthy farm you can even show it off to your online friends! You can use many other skills like cooking, tailoring, making furniture, and building houses. Commerce with other players will allow you to earn Kitty Dollars to spend on your character!

Quest, improve your skills, and meet Sanrio characters

Accept and complete missions to improve your skills and gain experience points and other rewards. Hello Kitty Online includes your favorite Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pochacco, Badtz-Maru, and many others. They will serve as non-player characters (NPCs) and country leaders, providing guidance and new missions.

Player Housing and Pets

You can own your own house and customize it in whatever manner you wish using furniture and decorations. Do you like animals? In Hello Kitty Online you can own a variety of pets. When certain monsters are defeated, they may drop "pet cards", that once used will give the player that particular monster as a pet. As a special treat for players, some Sanrio characters may also eventually become your pets. Not only is it fun to watch pets follow you around, but they also come in handy in various ways (such as for item storage).

Game / Community Integration

What really sets Hello Kitty Online apart from other MMORPGs is the community and social functions. The game is entirely integrated with SanrioTown, the official online community for Sanrio fans. By right clicking on other characters in-game, you will be able to access their SanrioTown blogs and videos and send emails to them. You can play mini-games with other players for some casual fun, or even cooperate with friends from the same guild for heavier tasks such as building houses.

Endless Fun

Hello Kitty Online is still being worked on, but it already looks great. The visuals perfectly convey that familiar cartoon ambiance that Sanrio is known for, and the excellent audio is full of Hello Kitty songs and sound effects. This is a fun, light-hearted MMORPG that is guaranteed to provide cheerful entertainment.

People of Hong Kong, rejoice! The Adventures of Hello Kitty and Friends are making their debut on the TVB network tomorrow, 16 February, at 4 in the afternoon. Join Hello Kitty, Pochacco, Keroppi, Cinnamoroll, Dear Daniel, My Melody and the rest of the gang as they have fun in Sanrio Town. Hurray!

By the way, more good news for Hello Kitty fans: last February 9, 2008, The Adventures of Hello Kitty and Friends was aired in Italy and was very well-received. Here is the show's introduction (in Italian, of course).

February is the month of hearts! We at Dream Studio’s Director’s Club want to highlight this special occasion, and we want you to be a part of it!

“What Is Love?” Unleash your creativity and use pictures to tell us what love means to you. It does not need to be romantic love: you can also show your appreciation for your parents, your brothers and sisters, your pets, and just about anything and everything that has a special place in your heart.

Pictures should be personal and should clearly show what love means to you. Copyrighted images are not allowed.
At least two Dream Studio effects should be incorporated in the video.
Video entries should have a minimum of five slides. The video does not have to be Sanrio-themed.
The use of background music is highly encouraged.
E-mail the URL to the Director’s Club (directors_club@hellokitty.com) with the subject “DS Contest Entry: Love Is“. Only the videos that have been sent to this addressed will be recognized as official entries.
Multiple entries are allowed.
No offensive materials, violent and explicit/sexual content should be used.
The competition timeline is between Feb 14 and Feb 29.
SanrioTown reserves any rights to use the videos, in whole or in part.

The SanrioTown moderators will choose the top entries. Members could then vote for the videos they liked the best.
Winners will be announced on SanrioTown.com on the Director’s Club official blog by the first week of March 2008.
Winners will be notified by e-mail and the prize sent by courier.

Grand Prize

The grand prize winner will win this 1GB LIMITED EDITION Hello Kitty USB Memory Stick, a unique little gadget that’s just about the size of a paperclip! This is not available in stores, so this is truly a special prize for our winner exclusively from SanrioTown!

Hello Kitty Has a Mouth!

Strange news to Hello Kitty fans: Sanrio Japan recently released a toy collection featuring their key icon not only with a mouth, but without a nose as well.

There are three "mouthed" Hello Kitty designs you can choose from, each of which has three items following that: a hair tie, a mini-towel, and a wire mascot. You can twist and turn the toy in whatever position you want her to be, because the limbs are pretty flexible. You can even make her balance on one foot, because its hands and feet have magnets that you can attach to a metallic surface to keep her on her toes.

The twins were born on Compassion Planet, in Dream Galaxy. They were really curious about life on Earth and spent time wondering about it, and so they asked their father, an inventor, and their mother, a poetess, if they could visit it, and they agreed. Saying goodbye to their friends the sun, moon, stars, and clouds, and with Lala's star wand guiding them, they reached Earth safely and have since spread happiness to everyone they meet.

Kiki loves to fish for stars, explore new planets, and invent new things (he takes after his father!) He loves spring and summer the best, because he likes to look at fields of dandelions from his cloud-top perch.

Lala likes to cook, draw pictures, and compose poetry (she takes after her mother!) She loves autumn and winter the best (she writes to her father and mother while floating inthe clear winter sky).

It's only five days until Christmas! Are you getting excited? We are!

During Christmas, we may ask for certain things that we would want to receive as our gifts. These usually come in the form of items: toys, gadgets, books, etc. Hajnee, however, has a different request and she expressed it in a very unique fashion: though a Dream Studio video!

"All I Want for Christmas" was made by the video creator as though she was writing to Santa Claus. While she says she doesn't want that much, at least nothing that could be gift-wrapped, she has one request, and she hopes that this will be granted come Christmas day.

The much-awaited Cinnamoroll movie will be hitting the theatres this December 22!

Mocha, Chiffon, Cappuccino, Espresso, and Milk go with Cinnamoroll in this adventure of a lifetime. Join them in their quest, meeting new friends like Anna (the girl who found Cinnamoroll/Cinnamon) and discovering new places like the Forest of Pastries and Bread and the Coffee Waterfalls.

The movie is actually a double-feature film. The second is "Nezumi Monogatari: George To Gerald no Bouken".

Entitled "Argyle and Stitches (Ep. 01)", this week's featured video is an almost sure-fire away of making its viewers laugh, not only because of its actual, unique content, but also because of the promise it holds. What's to watch out for? The video features sock puppets named Argyle and Stitches who are bent on world domination. If that's not funny enough, throw in a magical flying cow in the mix and you're sure to end up with mayhem! The video seems to be a silent movie and a comic combined, with the characters' (and the narrator's!) dialogue set in text instead of audio. Fun "silent movie" music accompanies the visuals, making it a very exciting and happy video to watch.

Hello Kitty's appeal is such that people from all over, no matter who they are or where they're coming from, will feel her pull. Today's featured blogger is a proof of this.

Her moniker Okasaneko (which is also her blog name), derived from the Japanese words "okasan" (for mother) and "neko" (for cat), says a lot about her. Not only is she a Hello Kitty fan (as evidenced by her Kitty-centric entries!), but she's also a wife and mother of two boys. This, however, isn't what makes her stand out, since there are also moms on the site. What makes her blog special is because she uses it as her medium to pursue her advocacy for autism. This is especially personal for her, since one of her sons has autism. A lot of her entries are focused on her stories about her family and their challenges when it comes to this. She is an inspiration not only because of this, but also because of her attitude in handling the situation: being grateful of what she has in life, and continuing to push forward in faith.

Real Name: Hasu No Ue Keroppi (Keroppi on the Lily Pad)

Birthday: July 10

Keroppi is the most popular frog of Donut Pond, the largest and bluest pond. He's fun-loving very adventurous, being fearless and very active. His talents are singing and swimming. Nothing discourages for long - this guy's an optimist and brings sunshine to the lives of his family and friends. He is part of the mischievous Ganta-Kyorosuke-Keroppi trio. Keroppi and his friends share his love for playing games, especially baseball and boomerangs.

He lives with his family in KeroKero house, found next to the Donut Pond. He is part of a triplet, her siblings being Pikki and Koroppi. They are masters of illusion: they can jump up and down so fast, they look like ten frogs instead of three!

Pikki: Pikki is Keroppi's sister, the only girl of the Hasu No Ue triplet. If Keroppi's the most popular frog in Donut Pond, she's definitely the head-turner, being really cute. Her hobbies and tree-climbing (she and Keroleen can make a mean batch of pancakes!) Since she's the favorite babysitter of the residents of Donut Pond, she knows all the kids there (being really great with names is a lot of help!)

Koroppi: While he and Keroppi are often mistaken for each other (they look almost exactly alike), Koroppi is actually the quieter one. He is a steady and hardworking worker, preferring to tinker with machines in his spare time. He has the best voice in the family, and his being a great singer earned him a spot in the KeroKero Choir.

Keroppa: Keroppa is the triplets' dad. He is the resident doctor of the Hasu No Ue Hospital, and he is able to help heal just about anyone who needs his help.

Keroma: Keroma, the triplets' mom, is a master chef! She runs her own small restaurant, but she always has time to make rice balls, Keroppi's favorite food (it gives him energy)!

Kerobah: She is the triplets' grandma. She loves to shop for hats.

Kerojee: She is the triplets' grandpa, and he loves telling funny stories.

Keroke: These brothers are the triplets' cousins, and they love watching Keroppi and his friends play baseball.

Keroppi's Friends

Keroleen: Keroleen has a kind and gentle heart, always there to offer a kind word or wipe away tears after an argument (she's a natural peacemaker). She is Donut Pond's resident fashionista, almost never seen wearing the same outfit twice (but she has her polka-dot dress as her favorite). She's a budding chef in training, being Keroppi's mom's protege. Her specialty is pancakes (which she sometimes makes with Pikki). Her birthday is on January 21.

Kyorosuke: Kyorosuke is wildly curious, always out looking for new things. Because he has superior eyesight (he can see things over half a mile away), he is often the first to pick up new information. He's a bit of a prankster, enjoying surprising people by suddenly leaping out of the water (since he is an expert in underwater swimming) - Keroppe is usually the one who ends up passing out because of this. He is part of the Ganta-Kyorosuke-Keroppi. His birthday is on April 22.

Ganta: He is the leader of the Keroppi - Kyorosuke - Ganta trio. He is the strongest frog in Donut Pond (at least, he likes to thinks so), but he is actually afraid of the dark. His special talent is to turn himself into a rock. His birthday is on October 10.

Noberu: Noberu is the thinker and the trustworthy one in this group of friends. He wants to follow the footsteps of his father and become a weather forecaster for the government weather bureau (he can predict hurricanes with amazing accuracy). While he is not much of an athlete, he more than makes up for it by conducting experiments and inventing stuff. When he and his friends go out for a swim, he uses his homemade camera to take pictures of them.

Keroppe: Keroppe is the new guy of Donut Pond, having just moved there from Hyoutan (gourd) pond, which is on the other side of the mountain. He zones out regularly, making him the target of a lot of practical jokes. When he is not sitting under any available leaf and vegetating for three days (which he is infamous for), he loves making toy boats and masks out of wildflowers. His birthday is on June 22.

Denden: Denden is Keroppi's constant companion despite their energy and activity levels. He is laid-back with a penchant for daydreaming. He loves playing in the rain. He spends a lot of time trying to catch up with Keroppi. His birthday is on April 22.

Teruteru: This little girl rain charm has the amazing ability of predicting the weather accurately. She loves collecting ribbons as a hobby. Her birthday is on May 18.

On November 22^nd at 9:00am, the world famous pop icon will make her debut as a giant helium balloon soaring down Broadway in the unique entertainment extravaganza that serves as the official start of the holiday season.

A player can choose to play as Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, Bad Badtz Maru, or KeroKeroKeroppi (with their own specialized, custom-made vehicles!) Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, so a person has to choose very carefully which one he wants to play as. S/he can unlock the second and third courses for each character by finishing the heat.

S/he can win by finishing all three tracks for each character. Losing in just one race for one character would end the game, so better do it fast and well to earn a good score and possibly a place in the Top Five ranking.

Sanrio Japan has released these Christmas stockings featuring Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll and the Shinkansen.

There are two kinds to choose from: the ones made to look like hard boots, which have two sets of designs.

They also have the traditional stockings usually hung over the fireplace or doors as decorations (or for Santa Claus to drop his present for you if you've been good the whole year :D).

November 1 marked the 33rd anniversary of her bringing happiness to the lives of people. A character she might be, but throughout the years, she's been considered as a close friend by a variety of individuals.

Sanriotown “Hello” Apples Photo Competition

Popular Sanrio cartoon character Hello Kitty is as heavy as three apples.

By coincidence, Sanriotown.com and Apple@Next Media Interactive Limited jointly organize the "Hello Apples" photo competition, which aims to convey three positive messages symbolized by the three apples: youthfulness, wisdom/creativity, compassion/caring, messages that Hello Kitty also delivers.

To join the competition:

1. Sign up for your own free Sanriotown account and then log in.
2. Create your photo in Sanriotown gallery.- Click "Join Competition", found at your SanrioTown homepage after logging in, to enter the "Gallery" section;

- Upload your photo;
- Create text in different font styles; decorate your photo with drag-and-drop icons, borders, etc.

3. Save the image.
4. Submit to the category you wish to join.

Judging Criteria:

- Creativity: Theme interpretation and creativity in using the Sanriotown Gallery features.
- Mileage: Comment activity and ratings from other members generated during the competition period.
- Overall appeal: Message delivery value and overall impact of the video to the viewers.

SchoolTime Introduction, this week's Dream Studio Video of the Week, is made by veedeck, an 11-year old aspiring artist. She features her self-created characters in her video, a bunch of adorable animals complete with their colors and names. She presents each of her fuzzies in a very creative way, maximizing the effects of Dream Studio by making these appear as though they really were meeting on the slides. Accompanying the pictures is fun music that's just perfect for the content and theme of the video.

We have another Sanrio character deciding to take a shot at blogging, and we're featuring him as our newest Blog All-Star member this week!

Meet Zashikibuta, a little piggie who lives in countryside France with his little mouse friend Tabby. Of course, like the Keroppi journal, the writer of the blog • Days with me, Zashikibuta • isn't the Sanrio character itself, but is roleplaying as him. As the author wrote (as Zashikibuta, of course), he and other Sanrio characters may have been forgotten by a lot of people already, so the blog is "his" way of bringing him back.

What's cool about the blog is that the little moods are actually made by the author of the blog and are not pre-made, so readers will definitely see custom-made icons to actually represent what the entry is about.
