Blog of the Week!

Photoblogs are a kind of online journals that mean exactly what they're called: they're blogs that feature a photo for almost every entry, with a corresponding decription or narration on why the picture has been posted.

Through These Eyes, owned and maintained by girlinblue, is an example of a photoblog, and the cool thing about it is that most photos are actually taken by the owner. There are no photographs of people - instead, nature shots can be seen, from a beautiful sunrise to a colorful sunset, from wildlife to trees and plants, there are a lot of very interesting pictures that one can find there.

Through These Eyes

Photographs aren't the only things you can find in the blog, though: stories accompany each picture. If the shots are taken by her, she'll tell the story behind the images. If the photos aren't hers, she'll explain why she chose these to be featured. Occasionally, she'd insert tips on how to take good pictures - something that aspiring photographers would be interested in.

To check her pictures and her blog out, you can go to http://blog.sanriotown.com/girlinblue:kuririnmail.com.

Hello Kitty "Around The World" Journey
Saying farewell to her friends and already missing her mother's apple pie, Hello Kitty was ready to venture into new horizons, meeting new friends and spreading the message of love along the way. With her passport, T-shirts, and luggage ready, Hello Kitty began her fantastic adventure as an ambassador of love and friendship.

Asian Beginnings
Throughout the journey, Hello Kitty met numerous interesting and inspiring new friends.

Hello Kitty put on the I ♥ HK mini T-shirt and said goodbye to Dear Daniel. Departing Hong Kong, Hello Kitty began her journey around the world and aspired to spread the "I Love Hong Kong" message to all corners of the world.

The first stop of the journey was China. To experience the rich Chinese heritage in style, Hello Kitty put on a traditional Chinese cotton-wadded jacket filled with delicate embroidery. Even as she was impressed with the hospitality, Hello Kitty proceeded to Japan and Korea, two of her favorite countries. In Japan, Hello Kitty changed into a traditional Japanese kimono, and admiring the beauty of Sakura blossoms in Kyoto. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, classic architecture and a pink sea of Sakura blossoms, Hello Kitty adorned her hair with cute Sakura accessories.

Although the scenery was beautiful, Hello Kitty had to proceed with the journey. Moving to Korea, the last stop in Asia, Hello Kitty was inspired by the rich culture and changed into a Korean hanbok, and playfully posing with the classic Korean fan.

European Romance
Leaving Asia, Hello Kitty stepped on a train and embarked on a romantic journey through Europe. United Kingdom is indeed a familiar country for Hello Kitty as it was where she was born. In a classic British "Sherlock Holmes"-inspired outfit, Hello Kitty browsed the flea market and looked through her magnifying glass to hunt for hidden treasures. With a "Choo choo!," the train brought Hello Kitty to the Netherlands. Amidst the scenic backdrop of windmills and tulips, Hello Kitty put on wooden clogs and a Dutch hat to create a picture perfect moment.

Having thoroughly enjoyed touring around the different countries and sightseeing, Hello Kitty was ready for more challenging adventures. In Switzerland, she proceeded to the apex of Mount Jungfraujoch and stepped into her skiing gear, swishing through steep slopes. Afterwards, Hello Kitty arrived in Spain seeking more thrills and excitement. Inspired by the ancient sport of bullfighting, Hello Kitty changed into a smart matador outfit, determined to brave the bullfight challenge.

The Mysterious Middle East
Following Europe, Hello Kitty ventured into the mysterious realm of the Middle East - a world filled with mystery and lost civilization. In Egypt, Hello Kitty relived the Kingdom of the Pharaoh and put on a snake-shaped head piece for her role as an ancient Egyptian warrior.
Although the world of classical civilization is intriguing, Hello Kitty was keen to follow her plan and proceed to experience the "American Dream": in North America.

South and North America's Passion
Breathing the air of freedom, Hello Kitty arrived in New York. Hello Kitty mischievously imitated the pose of the Statue of Liberty by lifting up the torch and shouting aloud, "I Love Freedom".

In Tahiti, Hello Kitty was greeted by passionate and sexy Tahitian girls. In a hula skirt, Hello Kitty joined the girls for a round of exotic dancing.

Leaving Tahiti, Hello Kitty finally arrived in Mexico. Filled with Mexican rhythm and music, it was indeed a perfect moment for Hello Kitty to take a rest after an exciting yet memorable journey.

All About: The Ginga Chibiko Gang

Ginga Chibiko Gang

Year Created: 1977

When you hear the word "gang," what's the first thing that comes to your mind? Chances are, an image of a group of black trenchcoat-clad men wearing dark shades and looking mean and dangerous would pop in your head.

The Ginga Chibiko gang however, are anything but mean and dangerous (although one does seem to be sporting a pair of dark shades). Just look at their group name, which roughly translates to "Milky Way Tiny gang," and you'll know that they're not troublemakers. They're five ladybugs who are always busy doing something, whether it be having fun or driving around in their lemon and cherry minicars. All of them live together in a grape condo.

The Ginga Chibiko Gang originally debuted in "A Present from Button Nose," a picture book featuring (who else?) Button Nose. They are also regularly featured in the "15th Avenue" section of the Strawberry News.

Dream Studio Video of the Week!

Cinnamoroll's star is rising steadily these past years. What with his feature film and the introduction of the Cinnamoangels and the Lloromanic, he is certainly a force to be reckoned with in the Sanrio world.

For those who don't have any idea who Cinnamoroll is (tsk, tsk), don't worry: this week's featured Dream Studio video introduces all the members of the little puppy's world. Entitled **My CinnamorolL CollectioN**, the video was made by petch0478. From Cinnamon himself to the other doggies belonging to the series, you'll get the chance to attach a name to each cute animal.

Blog of the Week!

Cosplay, or costume play, is a rapidly-growing hobby (even considered as culture) all over the world. A combination of the words "costume" and "play," this involves people dressing up as characters usually from anime, manga, TV shows, books, films, and video games. These past years, the number of followers have spread out, extending beyond Japan (arguably its place of origin), and penetrated through other Asian countries, even reaching the Americas, Europe, and Australia.

Nanao has dedicated her blog to this culture. Posting pictures of cosplayers that she finds particularly interesting, she also gives an interesting narrative on what's going on with the picture, and a short description of where the character that person is from.

Nanao's Research

The blog, called Nanao's Research, currently has featured cosplayers of characters from anime/manga and video games. A lot of people have considered people who have this hobby as dorky, but the pictures that Nanao has posted show that they're definitely anything but that! As the blog member state herself, "Cosplay is indeed about fun, but you must also consider how you look when you cosplay." The photos she's posted have all looked good and stayed true to the characters they've tried to dress up as.

The good thing about this blog is that she's always on the lookout for intersting cosplay pictures, so if you want to be featured, or if you want to have your favorite picture posted on Nanao's blog, just send her a message! Another thing to note of: as Nanao explicitly stated, she's found these pictures on the Internet, so if you know who these cosplayers are, do inform her so she can credit them for the amazing work they've done.

Focus on: Under Construction

XO Construction

Looks like Badtz Maru's got some construction jobs to do! Be his engineering partner and help him cover the construction sites by pushing the sandpiles over these.
XO Construction
Move these using the arrow keys. You can walk over these construction sites. However, once you've covered these already (as shown by two wooden planks forming an "X" over the holes), you cannot do so anymore, so careful planning and strategizing are needed so that you'll be able to complete the task.
XO Construction

Once you're done with the current screen, another, more difficult map will show up for you to solve. Your score is determined by the number of moves you make for each puzzle, so try and finish it in as few keystrokes as possible.

Play this and other fun games at SanrioTown! All you need is an account, which is free and open for everyone.:)

Dream Studio Video of the Week!

These past years, Sanrio has been creating characters that go against the stereotypical cuteness. Among these are Badtz Maru, Lloromannic, the newly-created Devil Hello Kitty. While not precisely bad, these are the ones that have a touch of naughtiness in them that appeals to a lot of people who sometimes gets tired of too much sweetness. One of the most popular characters following this trend is My Melody's nemesis Kuromi, of which this week's selected video is focused on.

For those who don't know who Kuromi is, she's a little white girl rabbit who's perpetually wearing a black jester hat with a pink skull design. She considers My Melody as her rival, even if the other one considers her as a friend. These days, Kuromi's popularity is rapidly increasing, making her a huge favorite among a lot of people. This week's featured video, "Kuromi in Paris," is proof of her fame.

As what the title says, candi (the creator of the video) placed Kuromi in various scenic spots of the known "city of love." What makes the video really interesting (and funny) is that the pictures used by her complemented each other, making it look as though cute Kuromi was actually enjoying the sites of Paris.

Blog of the Week!

SanrioTown has a lot of members coming from practically all ages, anywhere in the world, and being interested in anything and everything (aside from Hello Kitty and her other Sanrio friends, of course!) No matter how different your hobby or interest may be, sooner or later, you might just find someone who's as devoted to it as you are here. Such is the case with our blog feature this week!

During May, we featured a knitting blog called "Knittin' with the Kitten." Who would have thought that a couple of months later, we're going to have another blog created by a knitting fan?:D

"Misadventures of a Novice Knitter," owned and maintained by akari_mizunashi. Don't ever think that people who love arts and crafts are boring - she's a living proof that artsy people are really fun! Her blog has got to be one of the more humorous here on SanrioTown, bits of witticisms inserted in just about every entry, and even in the pictures she attaches to her post. A reader of her blog will find it hard not to chuckle, because her descriptions, captions and edited images are hilarious.

Aside from knitting, the self-confessed "mini domestic goddess" proves her name right by also putting recipes and tales of her adventures in the kitchen. These aren't the run-of-the-mill kind though, because she narrates this with the sense of humor that's become her style of writing in her blog.

Focus on: Sudoku

Dust off your numbers and logic hat, because Sudoku has invaded SanrioTown!

SanrioTown Sudoku

One of the most popular games for the past few years, the game is more involved with logic than with mathematical or arithmetic skills. Contrary to popular belief, the game actually did not originate from Japan. Instead, it was invented by American Howard Garns in 1979, dubbing his creation "Number Place." A few years later, it became a hit in Japan, re-named as Sudoku, which eventually stuck.

Sudoku Easy

"Sudoku" means "single number" or "the digits must only ocur once," and that is exactly the objective of a person playing the game. The aim of the puzzle is to assign numbers 1-9 per box/subdivision (the smaller boxes), completing all nine numerals. However, the catch is that each line should also have a complete 1-9 assignation, and all the while, the player has to ensure that no two numbers occur on the same line or box at the same time.

Sudoku Medium

SanrioTown's sudoku comes in three levels of difficulty, of which players can choose from based on their ability/experience with the game. Beginners can start with "Easy," intermediate users can go with "Medium," and experts can play the puzzle under the "Tough" category.

Sudoku Tough

The puzzles change every day, so if you want a daily dose of brain exercise, the SanrioTown Sudoku games are the way to go! All you need is your SanrioTown account, and you're good to go. Proceed to the Games section and go to the Puzzle Games. If you don't have one yet, be sure to get one now by clicking here, or go to http://www.sanriotown.com. Don't worry, it's free.:D

From appliances and accessories to fashion and food to toys and gadgets, as well as some information on what latest projects Hello Kitty is involved in right now, you're sure to find them featured here! What makes the blog even more interesting is that most of the objects being featured aren't typical, like candies or notebooks that have KT's face on it. Focus on: Kitty Puzzle

Jigsaw puzzles are no longer limited to cardboard pieces. Play the SanrioTown Kitty Puzzle and get the chance to assemble at least one of the puzzles there.

Kitty Puzzle feat. Little Twin Stars

As can be seen in the images, the puzzles aren't limited to designs that feature Hello Kitty. Instead, other characters like the Little Twin Stars, My Melody, and Cinnamoroll can be seen and played with. Every time you load the game, a different pattern can potentially appear to give you new challenges.

Kitty Puzzle feat. Cinnamoroll

Another twist of the game is that it's time-limited, which means that you have to put the pieces together within a specific number of seconds, otherwise, you'll lose the game. Don't worry though, the time that is provided is more than enough for you to piece together the design.

Kitty Puzzle feat. My Melody

If you finish the puzzle quickly, you may get the chance to be included in the Top Players list of the game. In fact, trying to beat the scores there could be an extra challenge for you!

Play the game by signing in to your SanrioTown account. For those who don't have one yet, you can go to http://mail.sanriotown.com/templates/common/us/username.htm or click any of the images above. Blog Tutorial: Advanced: Putting a ClustrMap on Your Blog

Some of you have probably noticed that some blogs have a little map showing where their blog visitors are coming from. (If you're not sure what that is, you can check out a sample on our right sidebar by scrolling down a bit.) If you're interested in knowing which side of the world the people who've dropped by and checked your blog out are from, read this tutorial to find out.

The service provider that most, if not all, SanrioTown members are using is ClustrMaps (http://clustrmaps.com/). Go to their site and create your own account. Don't worry, because their service is free by default, but you can avail of their premium service if you want to. Initially, all you need to do is to enter your e-mail address and your blog URL. In terms of the latter, make sure that you enter the actual URL, which goes like http://blog.sanriotown/(username):(cobrand.com (ex. blog.sanriotown.com/tgmoderator01:hellokitty.com) and not the redirect URL (ex. http://blog.hellokitty.com/tgmoderator01). After filling all these necessary information and then sending it, you should be able to receive your initial password on the e-mail address that you provided there. Check your e-mail, and then sign in to your ClustrMaps account. You should be able to see various HTML code options. Scroll down until you get to the"Minimalist" option, because this is the option you'll be needing for your SanrioTown blog.

If you don't have one yet, open a new window for SanrioTown (http://www.sanriotown.com/). Sign in to your account and go to your Blogroll. Opt to create a new link. However, if you want to make things a bit tidier, you might choose to create a new category (click on the "Manage" tab and then go to "Categories") specifically for your ClustrMap. Either way, once you're on the "Add Links" page, type in "ClustrMap" on the "Name" field. Back on your ClustrMaps page, copy the first line within the double quotation marks (ex. http://www3.clustrmaps.com/counter/maps.php?url=http://blog.sanriotown.com) and then paste it on to the "Address" field. Lastly, get the second line within the double quotation marks (ex. http://www3.clustrmaps.com/stats/maps-no_clusters/blog.sanriotown.com-thumb.jpg) and then paste it on the "Image Address" field (found near the bottom of the "Add Links" page). Choose to save this by clicking on the "Save Changes" button.

Note: If you made a different category for your ClustrMap, make sure you tick on the appropriate option before you save it.

Congratulations! You now have a ClustrMap on your blog! If you want to see a more in-depth map detailing where your visitors are coming from, simply click on the small image on your blog.

Blog of the Week!

Percy Bysshe Shelley once said, "Are we not formed, as notes of music are / For one another, though dissimilar?"

These words can actually be used to describe our featured blog for today. Simply titled "Lucila," after the author's name, the blog at first seems to be a combination of things that are relatively different from each other. Music, anime, videos, games, sports... These are just some of the topics that she tackles on in her blog.

Lucila SanrioTown Blog

However, when you read the entries, you'll realize that it's really all connected, not because of their topics, but because these are the interests of one person who not only loves these, but also enjoys writing about these things. Add these with occasional peeks on Lucila's life and you'll get to know about this person who has a zest for life and has fun with it.

Know more about Lucila and her blog by clicking on the title or the image above.

Dream Studio Video of the Week!

A lot of people love collecting stuff, especially when it comes to things with their favorite characters on it. For some, it remains but a dream to have a whole bunch of these items, sometimes only sticking to only a few pieces for a variety of reasons.

Happily for candi, she doesn't have to go through that, and she can share her Hello Kitty collection with us through her Dream Studio video. Simply titled "My Sanrio Plushies," she features her huggable toys, including Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, and their friends, in a very cute, unique style. Add fun music and special effects, and you have one video that's almost too cute to handle.:D
